President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin: "There is an opportunity to create a working group of the BRICS Business Council on e-commerce".
In connection with business requests, for the time being at the level of the Russian part of the BRICS Business Council (DS), the possibility of creating a new working group on e-commerce is under consideration. This was announced by the President of the RF CCI, the chairman of the Russian part of the BRICS DS, Sergei Katyrin, at a meeting of the Business Council of the Russian Foreign Minister
"The topic is topical," Sergey Katyrin emphasized, "we need to build a consolidated position of the BRICS countries in this area, it is also important for defending Russia's positions on this direction in the WTO."
At the BRICS Business Council, Sergei Katyrin said, today there are eight working groups formed taking into account the interests of the five countries' business. These are, in particular, the infrastructure, industrial production, energy and green economy groups, to remove administrative barriers (this group was established in 2015 on the Russian initiative), agriculture ...
Priority directions of work of the BRICS DS are determined. This is the formation of a pool of investment projects; development of cooperation with the New Development Bank; harmonization of technical standards of the BRICS countries and reduction of excessive administrative barriers, including visa. The group on the removal of administrative barriers during the Russian presidency prepared a list of barriers and obstacles that impede foreign economic activity between the five countries and proposals for their elimination.
Among other priority areas of work - strengthening interregional business ties and interaction at the level of small and medium-sized enterprises. Interaction at the level of SMEs is, in particular, the traditional small business forum of the regions of the SCO and BRICS countries in Ufa and the IT forum in Khanty-Mansiysk.
The business council is also working on the issue of creating a rating agency BRICS.
Work is under way to implement the agreements reached by the BRICS Business Council with the New Development Bank. For example, Russian Railways and the New Development Bank are discussing possible co-financing by the bank of the Moscow-Kazan SCM project, as well as a number of infrastructure projects of Russian Railways in the BRICS countries. There are proposals from other Russian companies.
At the meeting of the BRICS DS in Shanghai in September 2017, all the national parts of the Council supported two Russian initiatives: the creation of the BRICS Women's Business Club and the launch of TV BRICS. Special attention, Sergey Katyrin noted, is being given to the expansion of the participation of Russian companies in the exhibition areas oriented to the BRICS countries.
