Recap of WC Milan: Why every developer should read Plato
Last weekend, Omar and Annelieke visited WordCamp Milan. Not only was Yoast a proud sponsor of the event, but Omar also was a speaker. On this two-day event, Omar and Annelieke got to talk a lot with the wonderful Italian WordPress community and they really stole their hearts!
On top of that, Omar got the chance to talk about his passion: philosophy. In his talk he discussed why every developer should read Plato. In short, you need to read Plato because he wrote about the Socratic method. This is a method to stimulate critical thinking that every developer should master. If you want to learn why and how, stay tuned! His presentation will come online on WordPress.tv and he'll soon discuss the relation between the Socratic method and development in a blogpost on our SEO blog!
SEO tip: Use breadcrumbs!
In our UX & Conversion eBook, we explain how to make your site user friendly. One of the things we recommend is implementing breadcrumbs on the pages of your site:
"People who have clicked on an item on your menu, should be able to find their way back. Guide them with the use of breadcrumbs. Breadcrumbs are the links, usually above the title of the page or post, that look like:
Home » Yoast Academy » Courses » Basic SEO training
They are good for two things. First of all, they allow your users to easily navigate through your site. And secondly, they allow search engines to determine the structure of your site more easily."
